Boris Johnson has accused Sir Keir Starmer of not supporting Ukraine after the Labour leader’s comments on Johnson’s time as Prime Minister.
Starmer’s Assertion on Boris
Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson took major offence to Sir Keir Starmer’s comments that Jeremy Corbyn would’ve made a better Prime Minister.
Johnson Hits Out
Johnson attacked the Labour leader in his column in the Daily Mail, urging Starmer to reverse the controversial statement.
Attacking Labour
In his column, Johnson argued that Starmer’s opinion on Jeremy Corbyn shows just how little Labour understands the world’s dangers today.
“Utterly Terrifying” Combination
Johnson asserted that Starmer’s claims, combined with his potential election victory in a couple of weeks, were “utterly terrifying.”
Days Away From Labour Government
Johnson’s column states, “It shows that we may now be only days from electing a Labour government that has simply no idea how dangerous the world is today.”
Corbyn’s Potential Effect on Ukraine
Jeremy Corbyn is known to have a strict anti-weaponry stance, which Johnson believes would have had disastrous effects on the war in Ukraine.
Slamming Starmer’s Comments
Johnson slammed Starmer for his comments, arguing that anyone supporting Corbyn could not want to see Ukraine’s sovereignty restored.
“You Can’t Back Corbyn AND Ukraine”
Johnson insisted, “You can’t back Corbyn and back Ukraine at the same time” while urging the media to pressure Starmer on his comments.
Pressing Starmer on Response
Johnson urged the press to put Starmer “remorselessly on the spot” before sending out a recommendation to the Labour leader.
Recommendations for Starmer
Johnson recommended that Starmer retract his comments and declare his strong support for Ukraine, or else he would be considered unfit to be Prime Minister.
Starmer “Not Fit for Prime Minister”
“Unless he revokes his endorsement of a Corbyn premiership, and makes explicit his support for Ukraine, Keir Starmer is simply not fit to be Prime Minister,” Johnson called out.
Tory Scrutiny on the Rise
Johnson’s comments come after a torrid week for the Conservatives, who face scrutiny for a number of scandals.
Betting Scandal Rises
A number of Tory MPs and even Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s security team have been accused of placing bets on the election date using inside knowledge.
Sunak’s Fiery Response
Sunak has since slammed those responsible, claiming they would be “booted out” of the Party if found guilty, but he hasn’t taken action yet.
Sunak’s Never Ending Scrutiny
Sunak had only just shaken off the previous round of scrutiny after he left the 80th anniversary of D-Day early.
Tories Facing Total Wipeout
The Conservatives now face being completely wiped out of a Labour government, giving Boris even more reason to remove the Labour leader.
Sunak Losing Public Support
This news has been all but confirmed after Sunak’s mistakes led the public to lose confidence. Some Tory voters were also convinced to switch to the right-wing party Reform UK.
Farage Announces Leadership
Reform announced Nigel Farage as its leader, disrupting the right-wing votes. The Tories planned to use a similar tactic.
Returning Boris Johnson
The Tories hope to bounce back by bringing back the controversial yet popular former Prime Minister Boris Johnson to frontline politics.
Angering Voters
Johnson’s column on Starmer is a bid to anger the right-wing voters, trying to take the pressure away from Sunak.
